Corrado: I was looking for a way to exercise and I found a book about aikido. The more I read, the more interested I became.

AN: Have you ever practiced any other martial art before?
Corrado: Yes, I practiced karate, and for a while I was going to karate and aikido classes on the same day. But, later on, I stopped practicing karate.

AN: What differences did you find between these two?
Corrado: The intentions of karate can be very violent, but aikido is all about harmony and peace. In aikido, you learn to keep your distance and try to stay away from trouble.

AN: How long have you been practicing aikido?
Corrado: About eight months.

AN: Do you feel any difference in your life since you began your practice of aikido?
Corrado: Yes, in my movements, while walking and moving around. My patience, my interaction with people... It is like doing a technique. When I feel a negative emotion from someone, I just let it pass.

AN: How do you feel when you leave the mat after practice?
Corrado: When I come to the dojo, there is tension and other negative things in my mind, but when I leave, I feel great and relaxed.

AN: What do you think about aikido?
Corrado: Aikido is a martial art with a lot of spirituality, which I’m trying to grasp.

AN: What is the hardest thing about aikido?
Corrado: Learning the technique. It all looks very easy but takes a lot of practice to learn. Generally speaking, I love aikido, I love the time I spend in the dojo.
